Today we’d like to introduce you to Meosha Jacobs
Hi Meosha , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always been passionate about hairstyling. It started when I was young, helping my mom in her salon. I eventually owned a successful hair salon in Baton Rouge, where I specialized in hair extensions. But I wanted more growth, so I moved to Houston in 2014. That move marked a new chapter for both my career and personal growth.
My entrepreneurial spirit didn’t stop there. I’ve always loved branding and web design since I did all my own branding and web design, which helped my businesses grow quickly. People kept asking me if I offered those services, and I realized there was a real need for my skills. So, I started The Startup Spot, my branding and web design agency, to help other businesses grow and establish their brands. I’m also a pro web designer for Squarespace.
When I moved to Houston, I also decided to dive into real estate and got my license. I absolutely love helping people find their dream homes, especially when they think it’s impossible.
Balancing all three businesses can be challenging, but they complement each other so well. It lets me offer a variety of services to my clients, which I really enjoy.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, nothing good ever comes easy. The road has definitely not been smooth. I’ve faced plenty of struggles along the way. There were times when I was broke and even homeless. I’ve also experienced the heartbreak of losing a child and dealing with sick parents. On top of all that, securing funding for my businesses has been a constant challenge.
Despite these hardships, I’ve always strived to be the best and push towards my goals. I’ve learned to keep going and not give up, no matter what obstacles come my way. It’s been tough, but every challenge has made me stronger and more determined to succeed.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I wear several hats in my professional life, and each one brings me a lot of joy and fulfillment. I’m a hairstylist specializing in luxury hair extensions. I’m also the founder of The Startup Spot, a branding and web design agency. Additionally, I’m a licensed real estate agent.
What sets me apart from others is my diverse skill set and my commitment to excellence in everything I do. Balancing these three businesses allows me to offer a comprehensive suite of services to my clients. I think my journey and the challenges I’ve overcome have also shaped me into a resilient and determined professional.
I’m most proud of my ability to turn my passions into successful businesses that help others. Each venture complements the others, allowing me to provide a wide range of services and truly make a difference in my clients’ lives.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
One surprising thing that most people don’t know about me is that I once faced severe hardships, including being homeless. Despite these tough times, I never gave up on my dreams. This part of my journey has profoundly shaped who I am today, driving me to work harder and appreciate every success. It also fuels my passion for helping others achieve their dreams, whether it’s through beautiful hair, effective branding, or finding their perfect home. My story is a testament to resilience and determination, and it’s something I carry with me in every aspect of my work.
