Rising Stars: Meet Ronald Calzolari of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ronald Calzolari.

Hi Ronald, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started at a young age, I think about 12 years old. From there, I was enamored by the aspect of storytelling. I started with theater, and did as much as I could get my hands on through that art form. Eventually switched over to film (and its variations). Slightly different song & dance between the two, but both have the same goal.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing is ever easy. If it were easy, everyone would do it. Now for some, maybe it can be. I think it all depends on the occupational atmosphere overall. However, I do think the biggest struggles, not just for me but for everyone, is how everything changed once Covid hit. That is something that affected tons of people. Things have changed drastically since that, and I believe the biggest struggle is trying to adapt to (our new way of) life. I still think we are. After all, change is sudden, improvement takes time.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I deliver packages & food orders to customers. I’m hoping to branch out into other forms media/entertainment forms too, and soon. As for what I’m known for, that is a broad multifaceted subject. I think that would have to be answered by other people entirely. I’m proud of the fact that I don’t have an ego & that I have still remained humble through everything. Keeping myself grounded. Now hopefully this doesn’t contradict what I just said, but someone did in fact say this to me fairly recently. They told me that I always think outside the box. That I approach things differently than others instead of just doing the same thing as everyone else. It can be a risk, but creativity is risky.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Success is a long trek that visits you at various moments in life. There is of course my parents & my friends, in that exact order. My current teacher in the classes I take at the Film Acting Academy. Which has helped me immensely in perfecting my craft. I’ve known Ricornel Productions since the beginning. They’ve granted me many opportunities to keep my passion going. Matt Jenkins is definitely someone I credit especially. We’ve done a few projects together, but I do hope we do more. When he was working on a film, things went south & they were out of time. Everything was set & they couldn’t just shut it down. They brought me in & they didn’t know what to expect. After the first take of a dialogue heavy scene with other characters, his face lit up and his worry slowly started to wash away. Since then he’ll get ahold of me when he has something for me. The biggest thing I enjoy about working with him is that what he writes is different, fun and I still surprise him with what is brought to set.
