Today we’d like to introduce you to Tai Bowen
Hi Tai, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I always knew that I wanted to be in the Fashion Industry. The career path I fell in love with, was being a Creative Director of a high-end Brand, such as Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, etc lol. While studying Fashion at LSU, I went on a two-week fashion trip to New York City. During my time there I met with designers and companies such as Tom Ford, Swarovski, Tibi, Dynamix, which is the company who does some of the fashion week collection pieces for Ralph Lauren and Oscar De La Renta. I visited The Fashion Institute, and the Macy’s Flagship Store in Herald Square. I also was able to have a day in the Met Gala to see the amazing historic designs of Schiaparelli and Issey Miyake. I learned so much on that trip! From the behind the scenes of creating a runway piece, to seeing the actual piece in store. My love for Fashion grew even more, and I knew that I wanted to have a fashion Haus of my own. My sophomore year in college at Louisiana State University. I was on my way to lunch, when a young girl from a church group asked if she could pray for me. Reluctantly, I allowed her to pray for me because normally I am hesitant. While praying, she conveyed a vision of me holding a white flag and because I surrendered my life to Christ, the girls who would follow me would also surrender their life to Christ. That stood out to me, at that particular time in my life I was gaining a lot of followers on my social media accounts. From the following I received, I tried to intersect the brand I have on social media and impacting others. Two years later, I was having a conversation with my mom about owning my own business and the name, White Flag, instantly came to me. In September of 2020 I launched White Flag Clothing, and it was an instant success! In the 6 months of business, we made six 6 figures, and I just knew this is what God wanted me to do.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The saying “Everything that glitter is not gold” is a very true statement. Of course, I’ve endured some road blocks, such as samples not being exactly what I envisioned, which pushed release dates back, some photoshoots didn’t turn out as planned, etc… I didn’t let those obstacles deter me, and I kept my faith, and kept moving forward.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
