Story & Lesson Highlights with Corrie Domingo

Corrie Domingo shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Corrie, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Spending more time with family has been bringing me a lot of joy. It’s grounding.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Balani was founded 64 years ago and headquartered in Chicago.  Obviously, if we have been in business for 64 years and counting… we are doing something right.

We have been recognized for being one of the top custom houses in the world by JW Marriott and enjoy a 5-star rating on Google & Yelp.

As a custom clothier, my job is to design men’s clothing tailored specifically to an individual’s measurements, style preferences, and lifestyle needs. Unlike off-the-rack clothing, I offer :

Personalized fit – garments made to your exact measurements

Fabric Selection – choice of premium fabrics from Italy and the UK with a wide array of colors, textures and patterns
Design Details – lapels, buttons, lining, monogramming and unique features

Styling Guidance – advice on what best suits your body type, occasion, and personality.

Exclusivity – pieces that are one-of-a-kind, reflecting your taste and identity.

It’s a more elevated, personalized experience than shopping ready-to-wear, often used for suits, tuxedos, wedding attire, and high-end wardrobes.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
Honestly, I’ve learned the most from people who lead by example– those who demonstrate integrity, perseverance, and a genuine commitment to their work. Observing them and working alongside them taught me that how you work often matters as what you accomplish. Big shoutout to my family, my husband and my mentors.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Trust the process– you are becoming exactly who you’re meant to be.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
That I value growth and meaningful connections. I care about challenging myself to improve, whether that’s in my work, my health or personal development. At the same time, I make it a point to show up for the people I care about and build relationships based on trust and support.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
They’d miss the ease of knowing every detail is taken care of with precision. They’d miss the trust, the conversations, and the feeling of being truly seen. They’d miss my ability to translate their vision into something they didn’t even know was possible. They’s miss the laughter as much as the custom clothing.
