Jalen J Ards shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Jalen J, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Busy, busy and busy
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, my name is Jalen J. Ards. I’m an actor, writer, director, and producer from Louisiana. My journey in the film industry began six years ago with acting, and over time it expanded into writing, directing, and producing. Storytelling became my lifeline — not just a passion, but a purpose.
When I did my first interview with Voyage, I was just beginning to discover who I was in this industry. Since then, I’ve grown tremendously, both professionally and personally. I’ve poured myself into my craft, learning everything I could on and off set, and eventually created my own production company inspired by the experiences — both good and bad — I’ve had along the way.
But the road hasn’t always been smooth. Back in 2022, I went through one of the darkest times of my life. I was battling deep emotional and mental scars, and I reached a point where I almost gave up. I almost let go. But through the grace of God, the unwavering support of my family and friends, and my deep love for acting and storytelling, I held on. I found healing in creativity. I found purpose in the pain. And I realized that the stories I’m meant to tell aren’t just for me — they’re for anyone who’s ever felt like giving up but chose to fight for another day.
That experience changed me. It gave me a deeper understanding of why I do what I do. I don’t just want to entertain — I want to impact. I want to use my platform to speak life into people, to remind them that there is hope, that there is light even in the darkest moments.
Now, every script I write, every scene I act in, every project I produce — it’s all rooted in something real. I carry my past with me, but I don’t let it define me. Instead, I use it to fuel my future.
I’m grateful for how far I’ve come, and even more excited about what’s ahead. My journey isn’t just about film — it’s about faith, resilience, and the power of storytelling to change lives, starting with my own.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mom Tiffany L. Ards
