We recently had the chance to connect with Juls and have shared our conversation below.
Juls, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
This past year has really brought me to walk my true, authentic path. I’ve been able to see my path more clearly once I moved with the intention to stay in alignment and stay true to my purpose. As long as I remain consistent with being in alignment, I won’t have to worry about wandering.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, my name is Juls and I am a self-taught artist born and raised in Houston, TX. I create art that is spiritual, surreal, and intended to motivate others to expand, heal, and embrace their own journey. After taking some time away from my art to focus on being a new mother, I’ve pushed more drawings out, opened an online print shop, and started pushing more content out on social media. My links to everything are in my instagram bio- sixsunsjuls. Currently I am working on new print designs, new paintings, and other handmade goodies. My inventory has run low, and im focusing on getting that together for the near future. Along with crafting, I am also getting more serious about the business side of being an artist and creative entrepreneur so Six Suns can get back into markets and expand, as to just me posting my art online. So stay tuned!
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that kept running and hiding away. I’ve recently gotten through this and it has helped me see myself and my path clearly.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Many times. Gratefully I have a lot to lose now, but a year after having my son was the last time I genuinely slipped through the cracks. I’ve been in enough situations to know that I always have myself. Juggling family life alone and still following a dream has been the toughest experience, and I’ve gone through some heavy stuff in my early years. It was the moment of postpartum depression, sleep deprivation, loneliness, and extremely high levels of stress that almost killed me. I never thought or intended to become a single mother, but it has shown me that I am unstoppable. I didn’t think I was getting through it because it felt like a never ending cycle, yet here me and my son are thriving and I am excited to see what’s in store for me and my family.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes. Although it typically gets misunderstood, I show up as my authentic self everywhere I go. Sure, sometimes I get a little nervous or uncomfortable, but I’ve learned how to adapt when needed, or simply just leave.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely. That’s how my entire life has been so far. I’ve always did my best with what I had and what I knew at the times, It’s one of those things nobody can take from me, simply because nobody really knows what I, or any of us, are getting through.
