We recently had the chance to connect with Kevin Bianchi and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kevin, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Normally I spend the first 15-20 minutes scrolling through media and random YouTube videos. Then I take my dog Cosmo out for a walk around the neighborhood. After that I feed him and while he eats I get cleaned and dressed up for work.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Kevin Bianchi and I also go by my YouTuber, Videographer & Content Creator handle KevinTheDirector. I am based in Houston, TX and have been known to make geeky/nerdy videos for my subscribers and followers on my various social media platforms. Currently my YouTube Channel has 68K subscribers with a total of 24 million views for all of my 400 videos and reels. Outside of my content creating I work full time at MD Anderson Cancer Center as a Videographer/Photographer/Editor for the Diagnostic Imaging department for the last 8-9 years. The type of content I make both personally and professionally always has a cinematic look and try to learn and incorporate new methods, technology to give a higher quality for those that watch and appreciate my work.
As a movie and tv aficionado I decided to learn everything I can about film making. Through out my education I found I had a knack for videography and editing. With each project I work on I always found myself getting better and more efficient to deliver the project not only on time but still retaining a high quality. Currently I am working on my final director’s cut cosplay music videos which will be a three part finale. I do plan on starting a new series of cosplay music videos when I have procured some new film gear and software to allow me to be on the same level creatively and professionally as my colleagues. Beyond that I am giving my full focus to my job at MD Anderson and will be starting the next fiscal year soon.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I think dishonesty, lack of communication and not keeping true to your word breaks the bonds between people. As for what restores them is owning up and apologizing for your actions but also making sure to never repeat that same action again.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would say the things that are going to happen to you in life will shape who you will become as a person. Keep pushing yourself to be a better version of yourself. Finally I would say make sure to keep the people who love, support and encourage you in your life as they will always have your back no matter what.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
I’d say the public version of me is kinda the real me. Most of the time I am very introverted and really only speak freely to close friends and family. Outside of that I tend to try to convey professionalism with a penchant for trying to get the best shots possible for any project that I work with. During those types of shoots I pray to God that I don’t miss anything that would make it tougher for me to edit in the post production process. Thankfully that doesn’t really happen and the people I work with are very happy with the quality of the content I make for them.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If immortality were real, what would you build?
I think if immortality was real I would try and build up my Videography/Photography company more. I would invest in equipment and software that would put me on the same level creatively as my colleagues and competitors. In my immortality I would also learn everything I could to make me the best Videographer & Photographer I could be so I would work for myself one day. During that time I would choose the clients who would appreciate, respect and pay for the work I would do for them.
