LeeAnne, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I am proud to have recently premiered new characters for the season.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am LeeAnne Denny. I own Houston Hero Headquarters and The Fairytale Headquarters. I have been in this business for 13 years. With over 200 characters, I have the largest collection of characters in the city.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Loyalty. Loyalty is the most important quality to me. Anyone can make mistakes in life, but if you stay true to the people you care about, mistakes can always be corrected.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
As a cancer survivor, I have learned that my capacity for hardship is larger than I could have imagined. I learned that I can handle adversity and come through it stronger than before.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I believe it is my job to nurture the imagination in children. Childhood is so short, compared to the full length of a life. Children should believe in magic. That belief translates into hope and optimism as they grow older. I want the children who meet my characters to believe in the experience they are having. I want the adults to remember the fun they had as kids. because of this, it is important to present a character that is of a quality to be believable.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would let go of daily stressors and concentrate on spending time with my family and friends.
