Hi Thanh, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
Everyone has a different perspective on the value of certain services. So in the detailing industry the word “detailing” is just a broader term that describes cleaning and in this instance cleaning a car. Well there is more than one way to clean a car and how to clean a car. Over the years what I have seen is no matter the background of each customer “detailing” will always mean something different to everyone and the value that they place this service is never the same as the next customer.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi my name is Thanh Nguyen. Born and raised in Houston. For the past 5+ years I have owned a operated a home/mobile based detailing company called Auto Essence Detailing. We continue to be Houston’ most trusted detailing service year after year. I come from a big Vietnamese family with deep roots in the Houston community. With my experience working in many different industries the consensus is clear I strive in my work ethics, customer service, consistency and value. I aspire to create a positive detailing experience for everyone and continue to be your one stop shop for all of your detailing needs. I have recently created my own detailing products brand and will continue to expand upon that in the near future. I also intend on expanding my company into more than just detailing with more services in the couple of years. Ultimately I want to make the world a better place one clean car at a time.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
I have found my purpose in life and it is to detail cars at a high level to make people happy. The feedback I get from each car owner when I am done cleaning their vehicle is what keeps me going day after day. Just knowing that I can make other people’s life better if they aren’t having a great day or even if they are already having a great day to make it even better.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
As long as I am capable I will keep on detailing vehicles at a high level at a convenient rate for everybody because there can be a lot of negativity and the world can be cruel so I’d rather not be a part of any bad vibes. I just happen to get rewarded by making a positive difference in people’s lives and that is very cool!
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
So just about every client tells me that my prices are so much more affordable, easier to understand and the customer experience is so much more simple compared to what they have heard elsewhere. Social media and the Internet can make detailing look crazy but it’s simpler than you think. It’s a one price doesn’t fit all situations. The detailing world can get confusing with gotcha moments but I aspire to stay as simple as possible with my strong ethics and value.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
Making cars sparkle and seeing the joy it brings to my customers is a big part of my purpose. My morals, values and integrity are the upmost importance to me. I care about making this world better even if it is one person or one car at a time.
