Community Member Spotlights

It’s more important to understand someone than to judge them. We think the first step to understanding someone is asking them the fundamental questions about who they are and how they became the person they are today. Understanding and empathy are essential building blocks for a better, more compassionate world. We’re incredibly fortunate to be able to ask these questions each week through our interview series. Sara Brook | Founder & CEO

My name is Sara Brook and I am the founder & CEO of Houston-based bakery Dessert Gallery Bakery & Cafe. For over 25 years, I’ve had the great pleasure of creating delicious desserts for the wonderful Houston community and I’ve loved every minute of it. Giving back is at the heart of everything I do and I am really passionate about being a constant presence in my community and making sure everyone knows that Dessert Gallery loves and celebrates ALL! The French Farm was founded in 1997 by Gisele Oriot, who is originally from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France known for its food culture and wine. I am LaKisha Mosley, serial entrepreneur, mom, and all-around powerhouse! I have a blog where I talk about business, family, faith and love. I also have an event planning agency that I pivoted to all digital last year. Lenworth Johnson | Photographer

Lenworth Johnson is a beauty and fashion photographer based in Houston, Texas. Jamaican by birth with a natural gift for graphic design and photography, Lenworth grew up in Jamaica where he obtained his education and training. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performining Arts where he majored in graphic design and minored in photography. His work covers advertising, beauty, and fashion photography for commercial clients. His passion for photography resulted in him wining the Guru Award in 2019. He received Honorable Mention in 2020 Tokyo International Foto Awards, WPE International Silver Award 2021 first half, and two images in PPA’s Loan and Merit Collection. Sin Perez | Artist/Producer/Vlogcaster

First name Sin last name Perez, I’m the owner of Sinstrumental Productionz, LLC which is a music production company in the state of Texas. I write, record and produce all my own music inside my home studio “The Music Room. I also vlogcast (vlog & podcast) in the music room, I started that earlier this year to give more to my listeners and supporters more than just music and so far it has been working out really good. Melissa Rubio | Owner

My name is Melissa Rubio, I am the owner and founder of Bellitude. My focus is creating a life-style brand that makes on-trend pieces easily accessible and affordable to the modern day woman. As a mom of a 2year-old, full-time 9-5er and owner of a boutique I understand the fast pace lifestyle. My name is Regina Toliver and I’m the CEO and Founder of F.A.N.C.Y. Your Aura, LLC founded in 2018. It’s an online based company operated here in Houston, Texas. We offer products such as tees, hoodies, tanks, etc. and recently added in November 2020 Fancy Glo Cosmetics which is cruelty-free offering lashes, eyeshadows, mascara, lip gloss and body butter (NEW).
