Introducing The Lewd Dudes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Riefenstahl, Riley Sklar, Jordan Hughes, Rankin Fetzer, Scott Morgan, and Dalton Melancon.

Please kick things off for us with some background on your story.
Austin’s ‘feel-good rock-n-roll story of the year’ underwent mitosis in the back of an RV in the mid-summer heat of 2016. Three of the members, Andrew (guitar), Dalton (sax) and Jordan (drums) christened ourselves, The Lewd Dudes, while on tour with Austin legends, The Watters. After recruiting the might of Riley (bass), Scott (keys) and Rankin (guitar), The Dudes started playing house shows and small gigs around the Houston and Austin areas in the fall of 2017. We have now found a home within the Texas rock-n-roll scene, playing venues across The Lone Star State and spreading our rock anthems to all those ready to party.

After releasing our self-titled EP in December 2018, we got right back to work on our first full-length release, ‘Malbec’, which will be available on digital streaming and vinyl on December 13th, 2019. We have set an ambitious goal of one release per year, for fifty years, or until the USA is carbon-neutral.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
With a name like The Lewd Dudes, people tend to judge our book by its cover. It’s our hope that after seeing us perform and hearing our songs they realize we are just here to play some good music, meet some new people, and maybe tell a dirty joke or two among friends. Everything’s got its ups and downs, but at the end of the day we are just six brothers having fun on stage and telling stories we think everyone can relate to.

What else should we know?
The Lewd Dudes operate as a multidisciplinary production collective, each member bringing their unique contributions to the band. This gives us the ability to DIY most facets of audio recording and production, marketing, and media production. We have self-produced two studio albums, two music videos, promo/marketing, photography, merchandising, distribution, and boast an entertaining social media presence. This aspect of self-producing and DIY is what we, The Lewd Dudes, are most proud of and what sets us apart. We are always looking for allies along the way and the journey never ends.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Looking back, we wouldn’t change a thing because it’s the journey, not the destination, that matters in the end. We’ve grown every step of the way, learned from our mistakes, and have become a better band for it.
