Today we’d like to introduce you to Dawn Aisha.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started doing freelance makeup 15 years ago all over the Houston area for weddings, photo shoots, celebrity events, magazines, recording artists, short films – you name it.
2009 – I became a Freelance Makeup Artist for MAC Cosmetics where I pretty much worked at every MAC store and Counter in Houston ( in very high demand ). Let’s just say, they keep me extremely busy floating from store to store.
June/July 2013, I been blessed to have clients even fly me out to Los Angeles to do makeup for their opportunity on Shark Tank.
May/June 2016 – I finally started my YouTube channel.
I currently still a Freelance Makeup Artist, traveling in and around the Houston area, providing my services for various occasions.
Makeup is truly my passion and I love sharing my knowledge and making people feel beautiful.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I had some roadblocks along the way but my determination, my faith in God and my goals are what keep me going.
I’ve had other artists to try and steal my clients, keep me from getting hired on at MAC Cosmetics. I’ve even had individuals say that I can’t do good makeup.
I kept practicing, perfecting my skills and look at me now.
You have to thick skin and just keep going. Follow your dreams!

I’m known for my glamorous makeovers or giving a good “beat” as most might say.
I’m proud that I can make women see themselves in another light and not only feel beautiful on the outside but inside as well.
What sets me apart is I was the one that some said: “she’s not this and she can’t do that .” I’ve done it, I’m still doing it and I’m not done.
So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
I feel like women can do anything we put our minds to – we run the world!
