Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?

Culture, economic circumstances, family traditions, local customs and more can often influence us more than we realize. With the benefit of hindsight, we asked some wise and experienced members of our community whether they think they are doing what they were meant to do or told to do.

I definitely think I was born to do what I am doing. I was never pressured into a specific career. Just taught to work hard for something that makes you happy. Life is too short to spend everyday doing something you hate. Read more>>

I do believe I’m doing what I was born to do, at least in part. I’ve been doing hair since I was a child. It started out as a form of care: braiding my grandmother’s hair when she no longer could, doing mine and my sister’s hair when my mom was working long hours. Read more>>

I’m absolutely doing what I was born to do. I was meant to entertain, to live my life in front of the camera. So many people; family, friends, even neighbors; told me not to pursue this path. I believe that being a Dietitian is my vocation. In my role as a Dietitian, I actually serve as an educator– that is, teaching clients how to properly nourish their bodies, not just telling them exactly what to eat and what not to eat. Read more>>
